Meimak is a lightweight, man-portable automatic machine gun mainly designed for anti-aircraft role but can be used as a heavy support machine gun against ground targets. Meimak can be mounted and used on the ground (on an adjustable tripod), on vehicle, on naval craft and on helicopter. The main sighting device of this machine gun is a mechanical system; however, upon request, an optical sighting system can also be mounted on it. Meimak is gas-operated and belt-fed. It is an outstandingly light machine gun, about 57% lighter than the D-54 machine gun. The types of ammunition used with this machine gun cover the same types as used with the D-54 machine gun.
